La Llorona

This reinterpretation of the classic Mexican Folk song, made popular by Chavela Vargas, by Soy Celesté as a Metal Death March is intended to invoke reflection about the life and legacy of “La Llorona”. La Llorona is often blamed or deemed as mad for drowning her children in the legends told about her. Rather than being so quick to judge what if La Llorona did this as form of resistance against the horrors of colonization? What if, she thought this was the only way to save her children? What if, La Llorona still weeps and haunts bodies of water because we are avoidant of the lessons she carries for us?
